Overall Rating: ★★★★✩ (4/5)

It’s been a long time coming but it was finally time for us to visit one of my favourite cities in the world – Paris! Having lived there many years ago, I’ve always had a soft spot for the city and have visited many times but for me, a visit to Paris never gets old and so we set about finding the perfect hotel. We searched for something with character and not too expensive – a tough ask in Paris! In the end, we came across the Hotel Le Walt, nestled in the enchanting streets of 7th arrondissement in Paris, we found Le Walt Hotel to be a gem of a hotel that effortlessly encapsulates the essence of the City of Light. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were transported into a place that is modern but that has a certain Parisian charm, paying homage to the renowned painter, Gustave Le Gray.

Service: ★★★★✩ (5/5)

From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming with a genuine hospitality that immediately put us at ease and got our trip off to a smooth start. We arrived early and so were unable to check into our room until 3pm but they gladly took our bags into storage and recommended some places for us to get lunch nearby.

Whenever we had any questions or needed recommendations, the staff were on hand. The only minor drawback was service from our room. The phone in our room didn’t work and couldn’t be fixed and so when we needed some information from the front desk, it was a walk down to reception. Luckily, the hotel is relatively small and so this wasn’t too much of a problem, but it would have been easier if the phone did work!

Ambiance: ★★★★★ (5/5)

Le Walt Hotel has masterfully combined classic Parisian elegance with a contemporary twist. The interior design is a blend of rich textures, soothing colors, and tasteful artwork – a centrepiece of each hotel room, evoking a sense of both sophistication and comfort. The hotel has a carefully curated collection of art pieces and references to Gustave Le Gray’s work that adds a unique cultural touch to the ambiance, making each corner of the hotel’s public areas a visual delight.

One thing we did notice was that although the lobby and communal areas of the hotel were very modern, once you get onto the main floors where the rooms are, the hotel did feel a little dated. It did take a little bit away from our initial impression as it would be nice to have the contemporary feel continued throughout the hotel.

Rooms: ★★★★✩ (4/5)

There are three categories of rooms. Classic rooms, Executive rooms, and rooms with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

We stayed in an Executive room and were given a room on the first floor. We were going to opt for one of the Eiffel Tower view rooms, but these are smaller and so opted for more space instead.

We found the rooms at Le Walt to be elegantly appointed with modern amenities while still maintaining a distinct Parisian charm. The bed was comfortable, and there was ample storage and amenities. We overlooked the courtyard and so could open the windows if needed with relative privacy.

On arrival, we were welcomed with a bar of chocolate and complimentary water in the room. There was also a small fridge in the room in case needed and tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the bathroom came well equipped with the usual amenities you would expect from a four-star hotel.

Location: ★★★★★ (5/5)

Situated in the 7th arrondissement, Le Walt Hotel boasts an enviable location that is close to several of Paris’s most iconic attractions.  The Eiffel Tower stands nearby, a mere 15-minute walk away while the charming streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés are just a stroll away.

It’s almost next to the Ecole Militaire metro station and a plethora of bus stops which made it convenient to explore other parts of the city as well. We walked to the Eiffel tower on a couple of occasions and to the Seine to walk along the river which is also close by. We’d definitely recommend walking to Saint-Germain-des-Pres if you get a chance, it’s a beautiful corner of Paris.

Dining: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)

While the Le Walt Hotel doesn’t feature an extensive array of dining options, the on-site restaurant does offer a breakfast service. We had breakfast once and the breakfast buffet included a selection of breads, cold meats, eggs and dairy products. Although it tasted nice enough, we found it to be very expensive for the limited choice of food. There are plenty of options nearby instead and so we’d personally recommend heading out for something to eat if breakfast isn’t already included in your package.

The hotel does have a bar, we didn’t drink there but you can get cocktails and beverages, and head out to the outdoor terrace to unwind in the evenings.

**Tip: Looking for a bar to visit while in Paris? Try Arbane, it’s a beautiful speakeasy bar in the heart of Saint-Germain-des Prés.

Verdict:

Le Walt Hotel in Paris is a masterpiece, offering an unparalleled fusion of art, luxury, and great service. Being one of the more affordable four-star hotels in Paris, its prime location, artistic ambiance, and friendly staff make it an ideal choice if you’re looking for a truly Parisian experience in the heart of one of the world’s most romantic cities.

Despite a couple of shortcomings, it was a good choice of hotel and we think the Le Walt Hotel is sure to exceed your expectations and leave an indelible mark on your Parisian memories.
